Who looks after data protection?

Under Data Protection legislation the church Charity Trustees of Union Baptist Church are the Data Controller. This means they decide how your personal data is processed and for what purposes.

Why we hold and process this personal data

We are collecting this information to enable the church to keep in touch with you and to provide pastoral support as appropriate. Data Protection legislation allows us to process this information as we regard it as being in the church’s legitimate interest.

We may also gain your consent to use your personal data to inform you of news, events, activities and services running at Union Baptist Church or organisations linked to Union Baptist Church.

How we will keep and use the information

Your name and contact details will be entered into ChurchSuite, a (UK) cloud hosted, web-based church management system. This is password protected and accessed only by the Pastors, Administration Elder and Church Administration Team. Your contact details will be removed from ChurchSuite once you are no longer a member of the church – unless you ask to remain as one of our “church friends”.

If you are happy to share your contact details with other church members, you will be able to set your privacy settings so that others can view your contact details. Otherwise they will remain private.

Access to, correcting and removing the information

You have the right to ask to see any information we hold about you by submitting a ‘Subject Access Request’ to the church office. You also have the right to ask for information which you believe to be incorrect to be rectified.

Any concerns?

If you are concerned about the way your information is being handled please speak to our Administration Elder or Deacon. If you are still unhappy you have the right to complain to the Information Commissioners Office.
