Young People

As a church we recognise that bringing young people to faith, at such a crucial time in their life, is a very important part of our ministry.  As well as having an Elder and a Deacon who lead and co-ordinate our regular activities for young people, working closely with our Youth Ministry Worker, we are also supported by a team of more than 40 trained and approved volunteers, from our church members.

We take our safeguarding responsibility seriously as a church and all of our staff and volunteers have been assessed through the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) and are given regular training to ensure their skills and knowledge are up to date.

Hope Street on Sunday mornings

At the start of our Sunday morning services we all come together for a time of worship.

After this our children and young people leave for their own age-specific groups to learn more about the Bible and God’s love, to pray together and have  fun.

The groups offered for young people are called:-

  • Berea – (see Acts 17:10) for children aged 11- 15 years  - school years 7-11
  • Why? – What Happened Yesterday? ...... and every other day in the week, not just Sundays! For  young people in school years 12 &13.

Chill

Anyone in school years 7-13 are invited to 'Chill at the HUB' every Friday during term time from 7.30pm to 9.00pm.  Chill aims to help young people to keep in touch with each other as they go up to secondary school, provide a vibrant and relevant group to express their feelings and explore all that Jesus has for them as well as enjoying games and fun together.

Home group

Some of our young people choose to meet as a home group during the week and often study the programme followed by the adult home groups.  Currently the group is tackling the bible in a year!

Youth Services and Weekends away

As a church we encourage our young people to take an active part in church services - many are able to use their musical talents in our services.  From time to time they are also encouraged to lead services. We also offer youth weekends away on a regular basis.  Led by the youth worker and associate pastor and supported by volunteers, the group takes the opportunity to spend time together learning about God.

Over the years, the church has taken groups of young people to various Christian festivals including GOFest and Soul Survivor.

Fresh Cafe

As a church  we support Lighthouse and Fresh Cafe - a holiday club for children and young people.  To find out more please go to Lighthouse.
