Eldership

Elders

We currently have 5 members, who have been elected to serve for 3 years, with the opportunity for re-election for a further 3 years.  Elders, along with the Pastors are responsible for the church's spiritual and pastoral needs. 

Additionally Elders work with Deacons as they oversee individual ministries and teams.

 

Colin Hutt

Colin has special responsibility for Finance and Property.

Colin came to a personal faith in Jesus Christ during his teens and has been involved with Union Baptist for over 40 years.

Now retired from a career in Management in various industries including Aviation, electronics, veneering and  general engineering  . 

 

 

 

 

Mik Horswell

Mik has responsibility for Administration (Church Secretary) and Communications matters. 

Mik was brought up at Union and has been involved in different ways for 60+ years. 

Married to Sue for nearly 40 years, they have 5 grown-up children and 5 grandchildren.  His day job is in healthcare management consultancy and he has been self-employed for 18 years.  

Mik also collects motorbikes as old as he is!

 

 

 

Lynn Manktelow

Lynn is married to Ian and they have 3 teenage children, along with a mad cocker spaniel!   Lynn was appointed to the role of elder in May 2014 after serving twice previously as a deacon.  Currently she oversees our discipleship and missions ministries. 

During the week she works in a local primary school giving support to children with special needs, which she loves and along with Ian has overseen the rota of volunteers who support our children with additional needs to play an active and full part in church services. 

 

 

Pete Montague

Born in West London, Pete has been attending Union for over 50 years. He is married to Wendy and has three grown up sons. With responsibility for Missions and Community ministries he also serves the town’s Baptist Churches as a Lay Preacher.  Pete works in the Paper Industry, but in spare time likes to go for long walks and bicycle rides in the Chilterns countryside whilst also regularly being found in the stands at Wycombe Wanderers.

In the book Spiritual Direction, Henri Nouwen poses the question “Who is God for Me?” For Pete God means everything. “Through Jesus Christ I have met with God and experience his love and presence every day.  In my walk with him I let him down many times, but he never lets me down. “

Chris Croft

Chris is married to Anthony and they have four grown-up sons together. They have both served on the Church leadership previously and host the Young Adults (20s - 30s) house group on a Tuesday evening.

Chris has a special responsibilty for Childrens and Young People's work and serves as a leader of one of the young people's groups on a Sunday morning.

As a busy nurse practicioner in local doctors surgery Chris enjoys time unwinding playing hockey, walking and spending time with her family.
